Delvina ''One of the pearls in the south of Albania''

Delvina is a small town in Southern Albania , for 16 km northeast from Saranda . Apart from the beatiful situation in particular the castle is worth seeing,.. especially the ”Blue Eye” In the level underneath the city is antiquity the Phoinike..(FINIQI). The Turkish traveler Evliya Çelebi visited around 1670 Delvina and gives some information about the city in his travel book. Arvanitika (Albanian) and Greek in Contact HD

The Albanian speakers of Greece who are bilingual in Arvanítika and modern Greek are descendants of Albanian immigrants who formed their first settlements around the fourteenth century AD. Just when Albanians first appeared in what is now Greece is a matter of disagreement. While it is more or less accepted that massive settlements must have taken place around the fourteenth century, that is, during the late period of the Byzantine empir (Vakalopoulos 1961: 1), other interpretations push the first migration back to the eighth century.
